English Performance Rules & Regulations
•
In jumping classes, 1st and only round times may be used in lieu of jump off in the event of clear rounds or ties.
•
All competitors may choose any 2 consecutive heights for Hunter and/or Jumper classes; not including Equitation over fences classes (1
height only).
•
Equine Canada (EC) rules apply unless otherwise stipulated.
•
A separate warm up time will be set up for novices between 8:50 and 9:00 am. These riders may warm up in the open warm up time at their
own discretion.
•
Any communication with riders in the ring may be done by coaches but must be kept positive and not done in a way that disturbs other
riders/competitors in the ring. Absolutely no negative or abusive comments will be tolerated. If the communication is deemed to be
excessive or having a negative impact on any rider/competitor in the ring, the coach will be asked to stop all communication with those in
the ring.
Proper Attire
All riders must wear the following:
•
Approved riding helmets with a harness for entire duration of show; including warm-up.
•
Proper footwear with appropriate heel.
•
English breeches, Blouse/Shirt, Gloves.
•
Jacket (Jacket may be excused when judge permits.)
•
A well turned out horse/pony (Braiding is optional).

•
Points are awarded according to class placing regardless of number of entries per class. (unless stipulated in an individual division.)
•
Points are accumulated for each horse & rider/driver combination. If riding/driving more than one horse, those points will be calculated
separately.
•
Day pass holders cannot qualify for points for year-end awards but can qualify for Grand and Reserve Champion titles at shows.
•
Points cannot be added retroactively. • Official points tally shall be kept on the TPHC Official website. Points will only be posted for those who
have confirmed memberships.
•
In both the English Division and Western Performance division we will be counting the top 4 shows towards year end points/awards and will
dismissing the lowest of the 5 shows.
•
Attending a trail ride will award the horse/rider combination 6 points.
•
If at the end of the year a member has not completed the mandatory volunteer hours, they will forfeit all points.
Class Details
Road hack: This will consist of walk/trot/canter with strong trot and well controlled hand gallop. Horses are expected to carry forward
momentum while never appearing ill mannered or out of control.
Show hack: You must be able to extend and collect the gait while maintaining balance and keeping the horse well engaged. The horse
should be flashy and have a show presence.
Hunter Hack: Only Novice and Adult Novice riders may enter the Hunter Hack class
Green Horse: Open to horses first year showing; of any age. May enter 18” over fences; no cross entering into other classes
Adult Novice: Open to any rider 18 or older as of January 1st 2024 who has not yet mastered the canter and/or has never shown senior
or any W/T/C class prior.

Attention western riders on English division show dates - we will be allowing western tack and attire in the
following divisions: leadline, novice and green horse
